The Long Way

Stretched out and lengthy there is
an endlessness that intrigues me
my eyes wander
to the farthest reaches and my mind stops
counting my steps I eventually realize
this step this view this feeling
this weight this time is most

Begin to lose focus
of the overgrown thoughts suffocating the view beyond
casting shadows and mossy gloom
around those weathered dreams that are expansive
beautiful and right in front of you beckoning
your eyes to look to explore their needs
you don’t have to see it all to know
your dreams are there shifting
with the seasons evolving with each passing month
ready and ever waiting for
when you finally catch up

Inside each of us is the ability
to chose to feel over run
streaked with all the emotional debris of of the world
that will act like a film coating our true selves
and weighs each moment down or we can look within
slow our breath and find a reflection
that speaks our truth that shares the light
from within shimmering bright and reminds us how
to shine from the inside out
within this chaotic world

The view within
you a kaleidoscope of visions
centered on your lens a floating rainbow
of dream-like places wandering
with the winds you can’t keep up
with each thought each emotion they come and they go
but seeing them on
their way is a gift
each and everyday

Up

Into the unknown yes
I say yes I will
go up towards the expansive skies
and distant horizons up where I am reminded
how much effort a step can be up
to the lessons up to the shallow breaths
up to the views that remind me how

I can’t take my eyes
off the depths of you
the translucent rippled years
shimmering in the sunlight the number of days
and nights spent still and tranquil
the effort only placed on those trying to see you

The End

The end of a day is sometimes
a relief sometimes a celebration
of a job well done sometimes an anxious step
towards something just on the horizon
sometimes the day is so good you don’t want
to ever let it go

Growing

Within the beauty
of a day there are so many places where one can stray
and fall
get lost and distracted
hurt by words allowing shame to cloud
the brightest of growing moments and in doing so each time
I twirl spin off close my eyes
to the whole picture the whole moment I lose sight
of myself my gifts meant to soften this world
my endless love
my wide heart beating without question and then all I am
is just like everyone else

Spreading out

Softly she wanders sometimes
fading into backgrounds melding
coloring with her fingers so she doesn’t stir too much
tip toeing around lips tight

Yes sweet tree I am
here savoring seeing
your beauty layered and sincere
expressing how wide
wisdom reaches housing failures
worries missteps truths
bumps splays overlaps
