Nature

WPC: Wish

From the moment I knew
my body was growing you a wish
began to propagate within my heart a wish
that I knew I must pass on
to you, in no way could I buy speak make or bake
I couldn’t give to you or feel for you
no way to paint, explain, borrow or grow it
there it was and there were you
I see it finding a home within you I see you
doing what your heart tells you, learning

About all the animals of this planet finding
the highest point to get the best vantage point, I see you
opening your voice to the ocean waves
who gladly call back again and again you are small
but you are mighty wise to find your breath
within the Earth’s expansive skies to trust
your own body and what it feels to sense
that there is something beyond what you see
and most importantly you know that you can
find yourself when you are outside
uninhibited

** This post is part of the Weekly Photo Challenge, this weeks theme is “Wish”. You can find more entries, HERE. May we all find our own way to connect with ourselves when we are outside, uninhibited.

7 Day Nature Challenge/ Day 1

I said yes to the challenge from Pike at ArtKorppi II, post nature images for 7 days. Her images remind me of walking silently through nature, she peeks quietly through her neck of the woods giving me a sense of what it must be like to be a small animal living where she lives. I adore the perspective she offers through her lens. Please do take a look at her blog if you love to get lost in nature. And, if you are interested in participating in this challenge as well please let me know in the comments. I will nominate 7 bloggers on day 7. (more…)

Book Review: The Last of the Living Blue

Gin Getz has authored another book, her second in a year. Her first book “The Color of the Wild” was published about 7 months ago. I have followed Gin’s blog for a couple of years now, when she published her first book I was one of the lucky volunteers to get to review her book. I wrote reviews on websites and I asked, hesitantly, if I could write a review of her book on my blog. Gin was more than supportive of me writing a review, although at that time I only had about 20 followers. I waited to review her first book until I had 75 followers, I wanted her work read by as many eyes as I could offer her. I am so proud that there are over 200 of you now, her words are worth reading.
