The Long Way

Stretched out and lengthy there is
an endlessness that intrigues me
my eyes wander
to the farthest reaches and my mind stops
counting my steps I eventually realize
this step this view this feeling
this weight this time is most
important giving me the opportunity
to learn absorb encourage grow what I will need
within me when I get to where my will is taking me
I am a chosen long way walker
again and again there is no use
in denying contriving shortening misinterpreting the inclination
to wander longingly
on and on
