WPC: Rise/Set

Tree silhouettes tip toeing
to the skies while the quietness envelopes
the wilderness once more
no brilliant hues needed

to get to the point the day this day
is coming to an end
where you may find
yourself connecting the dots to the hours (more…)

WPC: Silence

A blanket of truth and quiet
a softness that quickly builds the drumming
of your own heartbeat
it begins get louder as you tune in
to the breath
beneath your feet the exhale of the ocean waves
the sky welcoming your gaze it is palpable
and the silence comes in endlessly
seeping between
the cracks of reality and finds a home
in your dreams (more…)

WPC: 2017 Favorites

A WordPress challenge to choose a favorite photograph from this past year, I tried. Instead it led me to pick 12 photographs. Each with a story, each sharing the hope for detailed adventures coupled with an outpouring of powerful solitude. I am ever grateful for this space…to come to when I need to write and notice the details of a scene I wouldn’t otherwise dig into. I’d love to hear if you found a favorite within this grouping of 12. And, if you are interested in the story behind an image, please ask. I’m happy to share stories with you. (more…)

giving the impression of a foundation to stand upon
to solidly live from
some of us forget
about our layers our foundation for a time and wander around (more…)

WPC- Waiting

Up with only a hint
of light we all spring from our sleeping bags
we made a pact the night before
we would be up before the sun
we grabbed warm hats the cook stove some tea
and cups and our bear canisters too
anxiously walking up above our camp
hoping to see the first rays not quite touching the peaks yet (more…)

WPC: Ooh, Shiny!

It used to be the tiniest
flower sweetly waiting for someone
to notice her
with details exploding and my nose pressed

close breath held lens fixed and so much
to notice but lately my eyes have found
themselves distracted by something
else entirely, those rippled lines

directing my thoughts and worries out
into a body of water
the ocean the lake the puddle the rivers wake
all sounds cease to be heard by my ears, I feel (more…)
