Northern California Coast

MMC- Movement

I am not sure why we try so hard
to disregard the inevitable the in flow
the overwhelming rush
the over-our-head suffocation that always comes
day in day out as sure to be
as the tides no one can live in only one direction
no one can feel only bliss (more…)

Core Beauty

Inward she floats coiled
and sure she knows where she is going
it is worth the effort the anticipated darkness
worth the uncomfortable experience, she is gone
down into the depths of questions
enough times now to understand why, it is a necessity
to unfurl her beauty waiting
soon reaching beyond her core

** A gorgeous purple trillium, wildly growing in my friend’s redwood forest landscape. I hope you are getting an opportunity to enjoy the wildflower details around you.

WPC: Wanderlust

A wandering heart yearning for the next view
circling to what she always comes back to the thrill
of the wonder the excitement of new points of view
small details waiting discoveries ready
for their overturning her breath is held
as the anticipation builds knowing
the winds change in the springtime and
her feet begin to wander
with her heart (more…)

Seeing Differently Challenge- 10 of 15

Smooth and wide borrowed
time so little to see it is hard to breathe
but slowly I find the courage to stand
still to allow to open to the winds
and give my lungs what they crave
moisture rich tears sprinkling my face and finally
I am surrounded
with grace (more…)

Hope on the Horizon

There is hope in a view
such as this the warmth of the sun the quiet smooth mist
the in and out of the effortless
tides the waving brush celebrating an arrival
to a point where one can see what is expected
of how far reaching
our efforts are encouraged to keep up
where the skies are inviting and the fresh air is sweetly calling
us to be our best to be myself
to be you oh I could marvel staring at all that is beyond
waiting for us ready calling me close and when I am ready
we will continue on (more…)

WPC: Local

I have lived many places and in some cases I didn’t want it known that I was a local. That is not the case with our most recent move, over two years ago now. From the moment we unpacked I was instantly proud to say I live here. I am mostly asked this question when we are frequenting the beaches, although it happens occasionally in the forests too. Wind Swept

The winds
blow even
when I ask them to stop
churning up the waters
within my heart
leaving behind traces of their path where they got caught
up in the past tracing
the journey
looking back I can instantly see how far
from the shore I have ventured
beyond

You know it is still springtime here as long as the winds blow fiercely. Just last week they died down and the fog now rolls in in the evening and stays through the morning blanketing the coast. Wind is a wild, unrelenting presence I can’t ignore. I’ve grown to enjoy it more as I’ve grown older. There is something magical about being moved by something I can’t actually see.

One

I am called to this
lone tree the hum of the birds
and the bees
the swift current winds need my breath
to join in
to sit still and soft
shoulders warming from the high sun
melting the busy must-do layers quietly
one by one
until all is shed and the ground absorbs
my weight my hair
flows lightly behind
me and here now I am one
with this magnificence
