WPC: 2017 Favorites

A WordPress challenge to choose a favorite photograph from this past year, I tried. Instead it led me to pick 12 photographs. Each with a story, each sharing the hope for detailed adventures coupled with an outpouring of powerful solitude. I am ever grateful for this space…to come to when I need to write and notice the details of a scene I wouldn’t otherwise dig into. I’d love to hear if you found a favorite within this grouping of 12. And, if you are interested in the story behind an image, please ask. I’m happy to share stories with you.

WPC: Experimental

** This post is part of the Weekly Photo Challenge. This week’s theme is “Experimental”. We were asked to provide images about an experimental experience. A couple weeks ago the school I work for had a teacher in-service day, which meant I didn’t have work and my boys who go to a different school did. I had a day to myself in the middle of the week. That is experimental in itself!

WPC: Ooh, Shiny!

It used to be the tiniest
flower sweetly waiting for someone
to notice her
with details exploding and my nose pressed

close breath held lens fixed and so much
to notice but lately my eyes have found
themselves distracted by something
else entirely, those rippled lines

directing my thoughts and worries out
into a body of water
the ocean the lake the puddle the rivers wake
all sounds cease to be heard by my ears, I feel

WPC: Dense

Seasonally prolific bursting fresh
purely blooming beauties cluster
with wonder softening anyone’s voice that draws
near all those winter thoughts a stuck heavy thick dense muck
becomes overrun with anticipation
scents of fresh air and longer days
a golden lit evening undeniable in its magical potential to churn you

Solstice Gold

The final hour before winter is
official a golden blanket of warmth
tucking in the shadows the wilds still churn
a harmonizing rhythm where the earth and ocean wildly embrace
one another where mist jumps a hundred feet in the air
waves crash again and again

Changes

Oh the weight
in your face the calm steady
freight train blowing you along making your heart sink
and your chest leap if you look out the window
too long

Tidal Mud

Sloppy sticky goop slogging
muck covered up when the moon
demands the tide up looking
out the harshness fades my eyes relax
no more squinting today no more
shallow breaths no more fear

One Four Challenge: May Wk.4

I struggled a bit for this final edit. After looking over the image for a long while I decided to emphasize the shadow side of the Chateau this week. I felt a black and white image was most appropriate for this week.

Week 3

We are on week 3 for our challenge this month. I decided to crop my image this week and bring the focus of the image towards the sunny day and craftsmanship of the Chateau.
