WPC: Ooh, Shiny!

It used to be the tiniest
flower sweetly waiting for someone
to notice her
with details exploding and my nose pressed

close breath held lens fixed and so much
to notice but lately my eyes have found
themselves distracted by something
else entirely, those rippled lines

directing my thoughts and worries out
into a body of water
the ocean the lake the puddle the rivers wake
all sounds cease to be heard by my ears, I feel

One week coastal living vibrant
colors and winds whipping
friends of old campfire stories views
merging with dream-like landscapes curious

Soften

I am struck by the softness within the vast
expanse of my thoughts ever changing knots
exposed with the tidal shift of summer days
and endless waves of expected bliss yet I can see
there is more I need to feel and float upon
to give into and celebrate the siege

Wild

With hesitation I am called in
to the tangles endless directions feeling
socked in hearing the crunching
of my feet and snapping twigs I wonder
if I am alone or did the trees know I was coming

Tracks

Emotional tracks are never easy
to follow they wobble and clutch
question and borrow time
and again they pull me into the whir of what once was
old feelings just because
claws outstretched silent guard down with impatience
spreading thoughts of balance and breath retreating
carrying me away

Awakened Perch

There was nothing I could do
except get higher to see
as far as I could and feel
the Earth below me move flow crash suffer weather
uncover expand retract cover expose itself endlessly
my body braced solid secure my eyes darting
together taking in the power and stillness

Underneath

And with this breath the waters, finally
recede finally expose what is left of me finally
I can see the glimmering questions the silent fury
the open distractions the ever present
siege that erodes a person when they don’t believe
they are enough they are worth all their effort they are beautiful
even when scoured

Tomorrow’s Tomorrow

She holds his hand they share a lifetime
the sun brightens their smile the moon guides their hearts
swinging and swaying together
with the breeze they ease into the everyday
the routine those expectations hiding
in corners shadows growing with each passing year
but together, they see right through the distractions
mistakes find their way right
