Self Awareness

Radiant Bloom

And she waits in her radiance
softness and style she opens to the light, she holds still
until she can’t do anything else but let go lying deep
in the forest only becoming her most true wild self without any audience
except her own soul, she is enough
she is and she does, springing to life
as the sunlight grows stronger
through the springtime

Core Beauty

Inward she floats coiled
and sure she knows where she is going
it is worth the effort the anticipated darkness
worth the uncomfortable experience, she is gone
down into the depths of questions
enough times now to understand why, it is a necessity
to unfurl her beauty waiting
soon reaching beyond her core

** A gorgeous purple trillium, wildly growing in my friend’s redwood forest landscape. I hope you are getting an opportunity to enjoy the wildflower details around you.

My Mane

Some manes are invisible they float
and move with the wind giving power
to those who feel they are actually there
those who know hold their head high shoulders back and walk
with an presence that is noticeable
like they have an invisible shield blocking (more…)

Weighted Leaves

I can’t help it I feel all
the weight of each leaf holding on, the thoughts
of doubt, ridicule the dreams that haven’t
found their way through those memories left behind
the constant worry
am I doing this right my furrowed brow my head full
the blurred transition between what

Actually is and what can change for good
sometimes I want to scream out loud “How cursed!”
I feel to feel so much
some minutes I just want a break from the whispers
good or bad it is hard to get a full breath
it is hard to get rest it is hard
to keep standing up for my heart and offering what it feels to those who hurt

I will continue to notice continue to feel continue
to wander through the tree top leaves and find
the beauty in their connection see the light peeking in
seeing each effort spilling leaf as part of a whole
somehow this makes me less likely to be confused about why
I feel so weighted down and need to cry
to lighten this weight sometimes

Forget-me-not

Of course so many need
you need you to care
for their wounds need you to calm their wild-eyed views need you
to tenderly speak need you
to listen while they weep so many need you
to believe in their goodness their dreams they need
you to remind them to see (more…)

She May Fall

And she falls within her tears
cascading tender curiosity
and honesty driving her down into the abstract
where doubt and shadow may dwell but that is in the past
where she may find answers to today to the burden
welling up she may uncover (more…)

Abstract Spring

Like a freshly born colt you wobble
with unused legs through the beginnings
of spring the sun so blinding you can hardly see
your eyes not use to direct contact
with its rays in many ways it all feels like too much so much
to do to feel to express to exchange to notice to expect to experience
a discombobulated mess of thought and anticipation blending
colors and winters depth freshness
bitter winds and just when you have an idea
how to move beyond (more…)

Tangled

Tangled up we are so tangled
up in our head full of thoughts we are not good
enough no one is listening few see
the light in between the shadows and dark
thoughts clouding our ability to just be

And why, why do we continue to speak
in such a way to ourselves
to the world to our children to our journal pages why
is it so easy to only see the mess (more…)

A Shifting Season

There is a deepened sense
during these seasonal transitions sometimes
we want to throw ourselves out of a season faster than it will allow
and then other times the shift comes
upon us heavier than expected and we are not ready
to carry such things there is a vulnerability a purity a weakening
taking place as we move between the familiar and the newly transforming (more…)
