I struggled a bit for this final edit. After looking over the image for a long while I decided to emphasize the shadow side of the Chateau this week. I felt a black and white image was most appropriate for this week. (more…)

Week 3
We are on week 3 for our challenge this month. I decided to crop my image this week and bring the focus of the image towards the sunny day and craftsmanship of the Chateau. Week 1
This quarterly challenge hosted by Robyn at Captivate Me is on for May. This is a fun and challenging way to edit an image, get feedback on your results and engage with fellow bloggers. If you are interested in participating in the challenge please check out all the details, HERE.
My husband and I recently spent a weekend away while my parents watched our boys. One of the places we explored was Oregon Caves National Monument in Cave Junction, OR. We toured the caves on a 90 minute guided tour and admired the structures, all build in the early 1930’s. The picture I chose for this month is of the Chateau, it is open from early May through Labor Day. We plan to go back to visit and possibly stay here this summer. My boys were ticked when they heard we went in a bat cave without them. (more…)
Our final week for this quarterly challenge. I can say after doing a number of these challenges that week 4 is often the most challenging for me. I don’t know what it is but I can’t make small improvements each week to a given image. Instead, I find myself searching and working toward four unique, stand-alone images. Finding that fourth image is often quite difficult. (more…)
The end of another month, doing this challenge really emphasizes how quickly a week goes by. I have six versions for this month due to the FotoSketcher processing in the first week. Week 3 is here! This week’s edit is a tighter crop than last week. There is a bit of a painted effect to this edit although I only edited the image in Lightroom. I was going for a frame-filling edit that maintained the interesting details of the petals. I could see this edit on a greeting card. (more…)
Week 2 is here, this week I stuck with Lightroom for my edits. I am sure I will get back to FotoSketcher before the month is over. I did a lot of experimenting and I was actually getting a bit frustrated, not because I couldn’t find a nice edit. Instead, there are so many possibilities I couldn’t get any traction in any one direction. But, this is one of the edits that came out of the experiments. (more…)
March is here and so are the poppies. For this month I decided I wanted to explore FotoSketcher more and I found a merging option in FotoSketcher this week, I actually jumped up from my computer and started dancing when I saw it. I have wanted to merge effects easily and now I can. I am looking forward to working on this lovely wind-blown poppy. (more…)
Here we are, week 4, again. I can’t believe this is the fourth month of this challenge. I am learning each week and finding easier ways to get to a similar result, which is really exciting for me. (more…)
