Seeing Differently Challenge- 9 of 15

There are moments
within a day where there is time
to marvel
at the sky to acknowledge
the passing of daylight as it folds
into dusky night and no matter the place where you stop
your feet your mind your body and give
your heart the time it needs to breathe
to rest to dream about the palette of colors
only painted on clouds in the evening (more…)

Pieces

Dreams and hugs tears
and celebrations first kisses
wedding bells sunset views
disappointments regrets too
worries caring too much sitting
under that tree for
an extra long time my husbands
laugh my boys
blue eyes that feeling
in my belly when I know
it is right the roar of a river
the smell of BBQ
the rosewater scent of my grandmother
a backpack’s zipper they all scatter
but together basking in the sunlight
just below the churning mist they are humming
softly with the tides
harmonizing my wild
swift incredible life

Wind Swept

The winds
blow even
when I ask them to stop
churning up the waters
within my heart
leaving behind traces of their path where they got caught
up in the past tracing
the journey
looking back I can instantly see how far
from the shore I have ventured
beyond

You know it is still springtime here as long as the winds blow fiercely. Just last week they died down and the fog now rolls in in the evening and stays through the morning blanketing the coast. Wind is a wild, unrelenting presence I can’t ignore. I’ve grown to enjoy it more as I’ve grown older. There is something magical about being moved by something I can’t actually see.

Summer Under a Tree

Today marks the first day of summer vacation. My boys are thrilled, I am a bit overwhelmed with the thought of endless summer days and their wild energy. At the moment the need to contain their wildness feels unnecessary. So I hope to have this image in my mind most of the summer, the sounds of the sweet rustling leaves, the soft endless hues of green, the branches reaching and winding, holding and calming me.

I am going to honor this time by posting less frequently. I am looking forward to sinking into the direction this summer has in store for us and all the natural beauty from within and around us we will uncover. I hope the same for my readers too. Happy Solstice, happy summer, enjoy!

to feel strong feel powerful feel alive
with a dragon cape in the sunshine

purely embracing who
