Tangled up we are so tangled
up in our head full of thoughts we are not good
enough no one is listening few see
the light in between the shadows and dark
thoughts clouding our ability to just be

And why, why do we continue to speak
in such a way to ourselves
to the world to our children to our journal pages why

Let me paint for you just this once
a view twirling circling imagination
and trust where the winds carry
worries off of your shoulders and the hints
of sunlight warming your heart longer where
the softness of redwood needles fold over your head
protecting you guiding you standing watch for you
as the world turns again your breath
can slow your mind can fall quiet your heart
can stop racing and instead beat in silence

There are moments
within a day where there is time
to marvel
at the sky to acknowledge
the passing of daylight as it folds
into dusky night and no matter the place where you stop
your feet your mind your body and give
your heart the time it needs to breathe
to rest to dream about the palette of colors
