This budding ranunculus with a curious pod inside caught my eye while I was photographing all the spring beauty in my mother-in-laws flower garden. I am not sure if this pod is part of the ranunculus or if it somehow fell into this bud. The other open flowers around it are either closed around their center or don’t have this pod in them.

I was so taken by this budding rannuculus that I turned the image into a black and white photograph. My husband says it takes on an alien like creepiness. Cool.
