Underneath

And with this breath the waters, finally
recede finally expose what is left of me finally
I can see the glimmering questions the silent fury
the open distractions the ever present
siege that erodes a person when they don’t believe
they are enough they are worth all their effort they are beautiful
even when scoured
it feels good to let it out
to open up to divulge
the weight to spill truth and love
while still suffering among
the grief-driven feelings I can see me
all of me and what is left
a beautiful mess that is mine to hold
to honor to expand upon and encourage as the waters will soon cover
but I will know
now, what is under what is real
what is in need of repair or room
to grow what is tender underfoot or hungry
for company and the loneliness has a purpose
and I have a life to live
