It is time for you to see how wild
you really can feel
give in to the howling
within expand like the clouds
overhead hear
the applauds from the leaves catching the wind see the trees
for what they have always been
beacons to where you fit in
climb up sway in tune
living at the pace of a tree
welcome home

    1. Thank you very much, Maria. Yes, summer is moving along for us. I am just back from a 3 night 4 day backpacking adventure with 3 other women. We left our kids and husbands behind and really had so much fun exploring, hiking and enjoying Lassen National park. This is from the first afternoon on the trail. So much quiet beauty. So grateful!

      1. Oh man! It would have been wonderful to run into you. I’m going back in September I have 2 possibly 3 trips planned there still! I love it there. If you are interested in backpacking with women, I’m going back in September. I’d love to have you with us on the trail 🙂

    1. Thanks so much, Chris. I savored this view for a few hours with nothing to do but enjoy it and listen to the stillness. Backpacking is such a fun way to travel!

  1. How wonderful it would be to live life at the pace of a tree and give in to the howling within, to become one with nature and find our place, where we fit in, there. It’s a glorious thought you’ve presented here, Carrie.

    1. Oh Janet, thank you. I spent time recently, backpacking in Lassen National Park with 3 other women. It was a profound experience. No kids, our own pace, all we needed on our backs. I felt strong, comfortable and alive and most of all HOME!

  2. Carrie, I love this image in B&W. It must have been a beautiful day in Lassen National Park, a place I’d never heard of.

    1. Yes, too much beauty to get in the frame! Lassen is a gem of a place. I highly recommend a trip there if you are ever on the west coast. My first backpacking trip in probably 10 years, such a wonderful place to enjoy. Thank you so much, Laurie. That means a lot coming from you!
