Flowers On Friday:Waxflower

When I worked in a flower shop when I was in my 20’s I always used waxflower as my filler. I love the perfect five petals, the woody stems and the soft distinct smell. I was walking in my neighborhood just after dinner and noticed the sun jumping off this bush of beautiful pink blossoms. I crossed the street and stuck my nose and lens into it’s beauty.

The Language of Flowers dictionary states that waxflower means susceptibility. not necessarily what we want to fill our bouquet wishes with.

  1. I’m not knowingly familiar with this flower, but I’ll be on the look out now. The five petals and stem, as you mentioned, but also that leaf. Beautiful image, Carrie

    1. Thank you, Laurie. They come in white and even violet too. Although, I haven’t seen those other colors growing, just at the floral shop. They grow in a bush, many blooms almost clustered together. Happy you appreciated this image. Thank you.
