I brought some extra holiday cheer home from the grocery store on Christmas Eve. A bouquet of elegant red tulips and purple thistles.
As they began to lose their freshness I realized they were a gift from myself and I wanted to remember their beauty. Photographing this bouquet was a lovely way to let go of the frenzied energy at the end of the holiday rush.
I love the idea of a post-holiday gift to yourself. I’m still trying to come down from the December frenzy. I like how close in you got on that tulip. They’re some of my favorite flowers…such simple and strong lines.
Thank you! I adore tulips too. They are not easy to photograph, I must say. So, I tried a lot of variations and liked this one best.
Yes, gifts for myself go a LONG way. Try gifting (time, love, hope, space, freedom, creative en-devours, etc…) something special to yourself today and see how much of that frenzy washes away! Enjoy!!
Wow, Carrie! Love seeing what you see! I still remember their fresh spirit and beauty in your home Christmas Eve. XOXO
Hi Britt! These flowers added that extra something I was looking for 🙂 Loved having you here to celebrate the season with. Thank you for your comment, it means so much that you are sharing in this adventure with me!
I love tulips, wish I had planted some bulbs this fall!

They make me really happy! I used to love visiting the tulip fields in Northwest Washington growing up, incredible colors. Something for your to-do list for next year 🙂
Yes, I have lots of flowers, bushes, etc. on my list to plant.
