High Sierra near Rock Creek
Wide
at the base
roots
clinging
to cracks in the worn rock towering
elevated
where the air is
thin
and the seasons are harsh
wrapped
branches wildly shaped
beautiful
as a whole being shading
my family
from the high altitude sun
searing
through anything exposed for too long
reaching
for more growth finding
strength
from the inside out never desperate only
resolute
in surviving
within
this
beauty
Again, a photograph and a poem well matched. I like the way you formatted the poem to resemble a tree. I am inordinately fond of the trees of the Sierras.
Me too, Janet. They whether so much through out their life, they inspire me. Thank you! I felt like there were some words that needed to stand on their own and then it started to form into a tree quickly from there 🙂
