The Torch

Burning deeply cutting
Through the noise of reality
The rich flames continue to billow
And flare lighting the way through
The darkest of moments you follow
The sound of the flames

More than the light itself the heat
Left behind warms your skin
And your thoughts imprinting a glow
To see through
Your layers
Truth

  1. i don’t know if you intended it, Carrie, but I saw this as a beautiful concrete poem where the shape of your wonderful words mimic the shape of the burning flower. Lovely.

    1. 🙂 I didn’t intend it while I was writing it but when I centered the words I found I really liked the shape! So, when I tweaked the words I kept the shape. I love that you noticed this, Janet. I really do.
