Black Eyes

Houda Point, Trinidad CA

Staring you down
Don’t get to close, the wilds
Waves rolling

Find a perch, basque
Into the view feeling
The earth is alive beneath you

Mother nature showing off
Is that her laughing

You can’t help but feel it deep
Your chest yearning with each new wave approaching
Just stay

Hear, no matter what
Happens stay and embrace
The knowing

    1. Oh thank you! I was rather surprised at the contrast actually. And, I used a new editing technique based on Justin Avery’s post a few days ago. He talked about the tonal curves in LR working great for BW, So I tried it on this image and loved the effect!

    1. Forgive me, but I can’t remember you name…and I did a quick search on your blog but couldn’t find it there either 😦 Sorry. I really want to reply to you “in person”.
I got so dizzy standing so close to that edge to get this image. I had to get down on my knees so I felt more sturdy. The waves were deep and moving quickly, it was a wild place to be. There is such power in moments like this, I really appreciate your feedback and kind comments. Thank you so much!

      1. The only place on my blog with my name is my little copyright notice so I’m not surprised you didn’t find it! It’s Louise. 🙂 And I’m exactly the same when photographing from heights / edges. Kneeling is the only way to get the shot without falling! 😀

      2. Ha Ha! Oh good. I am not alone in feeling dizzy when at such heights. So glad to finally “meet” you, Louise. Thank you!

  1. My husband and I are traveling, so my blog responses have been a bit erratic. I spent several minutes on your blog this morning, studying your photographs, your vast knowledge of photography (which is like a foreign language to me) and your lovely-as-always words. A welcome interlude. Thank you for providing it.

    1. Hello, Janet! You just made my day. I am so glad you found something here to keep your attention.
Where are you traveling to? Hopefully, enjoying the sights.
You are too kind with your thoughts on my “vast knowledge” of photography! I am such a newbie. But, I love it and, I can’t believe how much I learn about it while blogging. It is inspiring. I appreciate your comments and feedback, so much. Safe travels, maybe you will make your way west…to the lost coast one day?? I would love to show you around 🙂

    1. Thank you, Cybele. That just means a whole lot coming from you. And yes, I totally agree…I was so fixed on that horizon I felt dizzy. I needed to get down on my knees to feel more stable and secure. It was a LONG way down!

    1. Well, thank you so much Robyn. Your comments mean a lot! It is a very WILD place. Makes you feel like you are at the edge of the world. I can’t believe I can drive to places like this in less than 15 min now. What a gift!!

      1. I love finding places like that Carrie 😃
We have amazing places and scenery around us too! How neat that its only 15mins away.

Please take a moment, comments encouraged.
