Barnacles! This particular rock measured about 3 inches wide.
I haven’t seen barnacles since I was a kid, or at least that is what it felt like when I happened upon these this weekend.ย They are so delicate, I tried very hard not to harm any while I was admiring them. I had to really watch my step. Don’t you love the markings left on the rocks when the barnacles have fallen/broken off, I sure do.
Great image! Have you tried a B&W version? I have the feeling it will look great as well! ๐
Thank you, Sari. I did briefly try it, I had the same feeling you do. It didn’t pop, like I thought it would. I was going to mess around with it a bit more. Maybe you will see it on MMC ๐
I really like this. Good picture. ๐
Thank you ๐ It was so fun to find them on the beach.
I love barnacles!!! Nice find. ๐
I do too! They are like mini-mountains ๐
The tide was low enough to get to these, not the case all the time…excited to find them again.
Mini mountains! That is so true. ๐
I do love the markings that the barnacles make and I’m so glad you pointed that out! This is a beautiful photo and I’m so glad that you took such care to get it.
Thank you, Laurie. I do really love those markings! I have a number of interesting photographs from this discovery. I will post them soon. I remember as a kid being so sad when I would hear the “crunch” under my feet when walking on barnacle covered rocks…yes, I am a sensitive individual. ๐
